For 12–15% of families delivering at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) becomes an essential part of their journey.
Donations to the Foundation strengthen this critical program, helping sustain 24 private NICU rooms and a dedicated team of Children’s Mercy neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and specialists. These gifts make it possible for families in our community to stay close to home while receiving the advanced care premature and critically ill babies need.

Perinatal Bereavement Program

Through donor generosity, this program offers counseling, peer-to-peer support, and bereavement resources—ensuring no parent has to navigate grief alone. Every gift extends compassion, creating a lifeline for families walking through unimaginable loss.
